
My bigger concern is that Salomons aren’t great for backcountry use, which is what it sounds like you’d be doing. The only downside with gaiters is they can trap moisture IN as well as keep it out (same w waterproof boots) so just be aware of that and bring extra dry socks, always. Try some gaiters (outdoor research makes the best) if you’re planning to be in wet areas, they will help a ton with keeping splashes/mud/etc out of any boot. Yes an extra inch will make a teeny tiny bit of difference there, but idk how noticeable it will be. For example: For a video comparing different gear the "TLDW" comment should contain, at a minimum, the list of gear compared, and a basic overview of how the review is conducted.
